Oxfam Hong Kong Appoints Dr. Betty Pun as Director General
Oxfam Hong Kong is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Betty Pun as its new Director General, effective 14 April 2025. With over 25 years of experience as a senior finance executive at globally renowned institutions, including AIA, Manulife, and Hannover Re, Dr. Pun brings a wealth of expertise in driving strategic initiatives, leading transformative change, and delivering sustainable growth.
Dr. Pun has been actively engaged in Oxfam Hong Kong, especially its governance, for several years. She joined the organisation as an observer of the Finance, Risk, and Audit Committee (FRAC) in 2021 before becoming a full committee member in 2022. In 2023, she was appointed as an Oxfam Hong Kong Council member and Vice Chair of the FRAC, and she has also served on the Fundraising and Communications Committee since 2024. This deep involvement has given her unique insights into Oxfam Hong Kong’s mission, operations, and challenges.
“Dr. Pun’s proven leadership, strategic thinking and knowledge of Oxfam Hong Kong will help to write the next chapter in Oxfam’s Hong Kong’s journey,” said Mr. Wayne Porritt, Council Chairperson of Oxfam Hong Kong. "Her extensive international experience, combined with her long-standing commitment to our mission, ensures that she is well-equipped to drive our continued growth and impact. Under Dr. Pun’s leadership, Oxfam Hong Kong will remain steadfast in its mission to create a world without poverty through its advocacy, development and humanitarian work.
"I am deeply honoured to take on the role of Director General at Oxfam Hong Kong, an organisation whose mission and values resonate deeply with me," said Dr. Pun. "Having worked closely with the team over the years, I am inspired by their dedication and the transformative impact Oxfam Hong Kong has on communities. I look forward to leveraging my global leadership experience to further the organisation’s mission and create sustainable change."
