SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER/COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
(2-year contract, renewable)
The Senior Communications Manager / Communications Manager reports to the Director of Fundraising and Communications and supports in leading the organisation’s branding, corporate messaging, marketing and digital initiatives, as well as event-related communication activities. The role plays a key part in shaping strategic narratives and strengthening the organisation’s overall brand presence. Below are his/her key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Communications Team, comprising corporate, marketing, and digital communications, to formulate and execute plans and budgets that achieve Oxfam’s goals.
- Develop and implement Oxfam Hong Kong's communications strategy to raise awareness and engagement in support of organisational goals, ensuring alignment with Oxfam’s mission and values.
- Oversee the management of Oxfam's brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and adherence to brand guidelines across all platforms and materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to create engaging content across multiple channels, including videos, graphics, and written materials, to effectively communicate Oxfam's programmes and initiatives to diverse audiences.
- Lead media relations efforts by building and nurturing relationships with journalists and influencers to secure coverage and promote Oxfam’s voice on critical issues.
- Plan and execute marketing communications initiatives, including organising events, press conferences, and promotional activities to enhance Oxfam’s visibility and engagement.
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts, including celebrities and public figures, to support outreach efforts and drive participation in Oxfam events.
- Monitor and evaluate communication campaigns, utilising analytics and feedback to continuously improve outreach efforts and assess the impact of messaging.
- Collaborate with cross-functional units/teams, including Directorate, Fundraising Teams and Programme Units, to develop integrated communication plans that support organisational objectives and serve as a gatekeeper to ensure the quality of communication outputs from the Agency.
Requirements:
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, Development & International studies or equivalent.
- Had at least 15 years of relevant working experience, of which 8 years on managerial grade.Candidates with less experience will be considered as Communications Manager.
- Extensive experience in communications, public relations, brand management, networks with multi-sectors in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland. Prior experience in non-profit organizations is preferred.
- Leadership and management experience and skills suited for a medium-sized non-profit organization, and ability to adapt to and manage complex organizational settings.
- Ability to work under pressure and make difficult decisions. Preparedness to work flexible hours as required including rostered weekends.
- Ability to lead and manage a culture that is positive, supportive and focused on results. High attention to detail and risk management.
- Excellent command in spoken and written English & Chinese (including Putonghua).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with entrepreneurial aptitude and creativity.
- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and Chinese word processing.
- Excellent presentation skills for communications with multi-stakeholders of Agency.
- Good understanding of Oxfam’s beliefs and values on poverty alleviation, sustainable development and humanitarian belief. Identification with Oxfam’s mission and vision is a must.
