Oxfam Trailwalker 2026 – Life Changes with Oxfam Trailwalker – 50 Years of an Unchanging Promise

New 20 km Route added alongside the signature 100km Challenge
Four Ambassadors attend to show their support

(Hong Kong, 29 April 2026) Organised by Oxfam Hong Kong, the city’s largest annual hiking fundraising event, Oxfam Trailwalker, will take place from 20 to 22 November 2026. This year marks Oxfam Hong Kong’s 50th anniversary. Held under the theme “Life Changes with Oxfam Trailwalker – 50 Years of an Unchanging Promise”, the event symbolises that the challenge is not only a test of physical endurance and willpower, but also a half-century journey of solidarity—uniting participants with poverty-affected communities through mutual support across generations. Step by step, we walk towards change.

A press conference was held today (29 April) at Oxfam Hong Kong Headquarters. Guests in attendance included Bernard Chan, Oxfam Trailwalker Steering Group Convenor; Henry Tang, Director General of Oxfam Hong Kong; Lo Wai-kit, Marketing Director of Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited, the event’s Principal Sponsor; Raymond Wong and James Ng, Oxfam Ambassadors; and Pony Choi and Lena Tsang, Oxfam Trailwalker Ambassadors, to officially kick off Oxfam Trailwalker 2026 and premiere the brand-new promotional video.

“Life Changes with Oxfam Trailwalker – 50 Years of an Unchanging Promise”

In his speech, Bernard Chan, Oxfam Trailwalker Steering Group Convenor, said: “This year marks the 50th anniversary of Oxfam Hong Kong. Over the past half century, we have remained committed to poverty alleviation. As our most iconic fundraising event, Oxfam Trailwalker has also adopted the theme ‘Life Changes with Oxfam Trailwalker – 50 Years of an Unchanging Promise’ this year, symbolising our long-standing determination to fight poverty hand in hand with the public. As always, funds raised through this year’s Trailwalker will continue to support Oxfam’s projects around the world, including assistance for underprivileged communities in Hong Kong affected by extreme weather, as well as disaster-affected communities in different regions.”

New 20 km route added to let more people take the first step towards “Change”

To mark Oxfam Hong Kong’s 50th anniversary, Oxfam Trailwalker 2026 will, as in previous years, feature the signature 100 km MacLehose Trail challenge for teams of four—starting at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung, and finishing within 48 hours at Harrow International School Hong Kong, Tuen Mun. In addition, a special “Oxfam 50th Anniversary Limited Edition” 20 km route has been introduced, enabling more members of the public to join the movement to “Walk for Change”. The 20 km route will start at the Rotary Park Car Park, Tai Mo Shan, and will also finish at Harrow International School Hong Kong, Tuen Mun. For route information and event details, please visit the official Oxfam Trailwalker website www.oxfamtrailwalker.org.hk.

Registration for both the 100 km and 20 km categories of Oxfam Trailwalker 2026 will open at 10:00 a.m. on 6 May 2026 and close at 6:00 p.m. on 20 May 2026. Members of the public are welcome to submit applications via the official Oxfam Trailwalker website. Successful applicants will be entered into the Open Category ballot to be held on 2 June, and results will be announced on 3 June on the official Oxfam Trailwalker website. Successful entrants will also be notified by email.

During the sharing session, Henry Tang, Director General of Oxfam Hong Kong, introduced the 20 km route and said: “Although the route is shorter, it still presents a meaningful challenge. I strongly recommend that participants familiarise themselves with the entire route ahead of the event — be sure to train in advance and assess your physical condition — so that you can safely enjoy and experience the whole journey. I hope this 20 km route can be a beginning, so that more people can feel the spirit of Trailwalker: ‘Alone we go faster; together we go further!’”

“Futu Securities” becomes the Event’s Principal Sponsor for the third consecutive year

Futu Securities has supported Oxfam Trailwalker for many years, and has become the event’s Principal Sponsor for three consecutive years. Lo Wai-kit, Marketing Director of Futu Securities, said:“As the Principal Sponsor, Futu Securities will, as always, give our full support to Oxfam Trailwalker. Whether through investing resources, encouraging team participation, or fundraising, we will spare no effort—working together with Oxfam and all participants and volunteers to amplify this charitable force and carry it forward.”

An unchanging promise: Rallying Trailwalkers to advance poverty alleviation step by step

Oxfam announced today that Raymond Wong and James Ng have officially been appointed as Oxfam Ambassadors. Raymond Wong, who took part in Trailwalker 20 years ago, is taking on the challenge again this year. Together with his teammate, “Celebrity Coach” Master Wong, he will join two additional teammates to hit the trail once more in November. James Ng, a three-time Oxfam Trailwalker participant, will again challenge himself on the 100 km MacLehose Trail this year. At the press conference, he and his teammate Alvin Ng shared their experiences and takeaways.

Meanwhile, Oxfam Trailwalker Ambassadors Pony Choi and Lena Tsang shared their insights from a female perspective, encouraging the public and teams to take part enthusiastically. During the sharing session, Pony Choi and her teammates Ivy Au and Luna Li mentioned that while the first step can be difficult, Trailwalker helps people discover a stronger self — so they are joining Oxfam Trailwalker this year. Elite athlete Lena Tsang and her teammates Cherry Li and Fion Ho emphasised that sports and Trailwalker are not limited by age. Both women’s teams agreed that whether participants choose to take on the traditional 100 km long-distance challenge or try the 20 km category, as long as they are willing to walk side by side, they can push their own limits while contributing to poverty alleviation efforts worldwide.

“Unchanging Annual Promise”: Linking 50 Years of commitment through every step

Last year, Oxfam Trailwalker was cancelled due to the Tai Po fire. All related public donations and suitable supplies were redirected to support Tai Po residents, helping the community through difficult times together. Funds raised through Oxfam Trailwalker 2026 will continue to support Oxfam’s poverty alleviation, disaster relief and advocacy work in Hong Kong and around the world, with a focus on assisting vulnerable communities threatened by climate change — so that every step taken by participants can be transformed into a force that drives society forward.

About Oxfam Trailwalker

Oxfam Trailwalker (formerly known as “Trailwalker”) began in Hong Kong in 1981 as a training exercise for Gurkha troops stationed in Hong Kong. In 1986, Oxfam Hong Kong was invited to co-organise the event, and it was opened to the public for the first time. Following the Gurkhas’ withdrawal from Hong Kong in 1997, Oxfam Hong Kong took over as the organiser, and the event has since become Hong Kong’s largest fundraising hiking challenge.

*The physical Oxfam Trailwalker event was suspended for five years; therefore, 2026 marks its 41st edition.
