Guests included Bernard Chan, Oxfam Trailwalker Steering Group Convenor; Betty Pun, Director General, Oxfam Hong Kong; Michael Wong, Director of Fundraising and Communications, Oxfam Hong Kong; Daniel Tse, Managing Director of Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited, OTW Principal Sponsor; OTW Event Ambassador James Ng; OTW Promotion Ambassador Raymond Wong; Celebrity Trailwalker Alvin Ng; Elite Walker Joseph Yeung; Renowned Athlete Lisa Cheng; Renowned Fitness Coach Lawrence Wong; Founder of TTR Trailwalker Teaching Room Charity Foundation KK Chan; Fiona Lam, Manager (Sports Rehabilitation & Fund Raising), Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society; visually impaired runner Ken Chan and his guide dog Ronny; along with Teacher Sze Shing Koi and his student Choi Shui Hei from Hong Chi Lions Morninghill School. Together, they officially launched Oxfam Trailwalker 2025.
Participants Embrace the Spirit of “Team Up and Overcome” and Taking Action to Support Oxfam’s Poverty Alleviation Efforts
Last year’s Oxfam Trailwalker took place in adverse weather, making it the most challenging conditions in recent years; yet, it demonstrated the unyielding perseverance of the Trailwalkers. Speaking at the press conference, Bernard Chan, Oxfam Trailwalker Steering Group Convenor, highlighted the exceptional meaning behind this year’s theme: “Team up. Overcome. Achieve. Together.” “Every Oxfam Trailwalker event stands as a testament to the power of togetherness. All participants — including Oxfam Trailwalkers, Principal Sponsor Futu Securities, support teams, and volunteers — will united with unwavering belief to support Oxfam’s poverty alleviation efforts through this meaningful event. Funds raised this year will help support Oxfam’s projects worldwide, including those in vulnerable communities affected by extreme weather events. No matter how the weather changes, our spirit of ‘Team up. Overcome. Achieve. Together.’ will continue to guide us forward.”
Futu Securities has long supported Oxfam Trailwalker, with its founder Leaf Li Hua actively leading Futu’s participation since 2014. Daniel Tse, Managing Director of Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited, said: “We debuted as Principal Sponsor last year and set a new record with over 60 teams organised to participate. Last year, Oxfam Trailwalkers demonstrated perseverance, teamwork, and courage — embracing the spirit of ‘Team up. Overcome. Achieve. Together.’ We hope that even more people will participate this year, taking action to support charitable causes and sending a positive message to the community: hold onto your belief and move forward together.”
Michael Wong, Director of Fundraising and Communications, Oxfam Hong Kong, said “Oxfam Trailwalker is a fantastic platform for participants to take in the breathtaking scenery of the MacLehose Trail and experience Hong Kong’s unique natural beauty. To further promote this iconic Hong Kong event, we are honoured to have invited local Elite Walker Tsang Chun Kit (Ying Ying) to team up with overseas elites. We hope this will encourage more international participants to join us in exploring Hong Kong’s stunning trails and taking part in this challenging yet meaningful journey.”
Calling for Registration: Support Poverty Alleviation Through Action
Today, Oxfam Hong Kong announced that artist James Ng Yip Kwan will serve as an official Oxfam Trailwalker Event Ambassador. A brand-new promotional video was premiered at the press conference, where James — a three-time Trailwalker participant with a best finishing time of 30 hours and 19 minutes — shared his experiences and challenges.
He was joined by the Promotion Ambassador Raymond Wong Ho Yin, returning to Trailwalker after many years, and two-time champion Elite Walker Joseph Yeung Chi Shing, to call on all aspiring Oxfam Trailwalkers to act now: take on the challenge, support poverty alleviation through action, and help vulnerable communities affected by climate change.
Renowned Athlete Lisa Cheng — who plans to participate for the first time with her children in the Oxfam Trailwalker’s Leaders’ Walk — along with representatives from the Fearless Dragon Running Team and Hong Chi Lions Morninghill School, also shared their stories on stage today. Fiona Lam, Manager (Sports Rehabilitation & Fund Raising), Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society and visually impaired runner Ken Chan, explained that since its founding in 2011, the team has consistently fielded inclusive teams in the Oxfam Trailwalker, helping to promote inclusion and strengthen the perseverance of participants with disabilities. They expressed excitement about participating again this year, aiming to overcome the challenges posed by hearing and visual impairments and successfully complete the event. Meanwhile, Sze Shing Koi, Teacher from Hong Chi Lions Morninghill School, shared that he has led students to join Oxfam Trailwalkers for 12 consecutive years. Last year, he guided a team of four special needs students with mild intellectual disabilities and autism to participate in Oxfam Trailwalker before their graduation. Choi Sui Hei, one of the students who completed the 100km route last year, said, “Though the hike was challenging, I’m thrilled to have achieved our goal.”
We are especially grateful to Walter Cheung, a seasoned communications and PR expert, for generously serving as the Communications Advisor for Oxfam Trailwalker 2025 on a pro bono basis, providing invaluable guidance to the event.

About Oxfam Trailwalker
Oxfam Trailwalker (previously called “Trailwalker”) began in Hong Kong in 1981 as a military training exercise for the elite Queen’s Gurkha Signals Regiment. In 1986, Oxfam Hong Kong was invited to co-organise the event and in the same year the event was open to the public. Along with the retreat of the Gurkhas in 1997, Oxfam Hong Kong took over the event, which has since become Hong Kong's largest fundraising hiking event. Oxfam Trailwalker 2025 starts in Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung, and finishes at Harrow International School Hong Kong in Tuen Mun. Teams of four must complete the 100km MacLehose Trail and other connecting sections within 48 hours.
*The physical Oxfam Trailwalker event was suspended for three years; therefore, 2025 marks its 41st edition.
